Benjamin Niespodziany is a poet whose reversals keep absence at bay. In the collection Uncle Time, a family, or the ghost of the object that holds them, performs for sickness before anyone can be diagnosed. This is a verse that gets there first to ritually remind the peripherally passing father to spell spell twice to the same child. That gets creative with appetite for the waiting sisterhoods of the emptied sister. No doll wants to be found inside of a doll. Niespodziany protects his influences in plain sight might hiding be a vulnerability passed around by a melancholy community as tenderly as an inside joke. Oh time, there are no shortcuts here. The decorated saying of the tongue’s subconscious death-licking? Absolutely. Also, also, absolution. Niespodziany tricks and tricks fairly the rhyme of the epiphanic into sounding out the many single musics of revelation’s long game.
